Drawings and digitally processed photos are standing on the base of my work. I often use glass and (moving) light.

My works are often integrated within the architecture.

My drawings were made on the basis of various travels. So I stayed 8 weeks in the jungle of Suriname. There I recorded the purity and authenticity of the native residents in portrait drawings.
With my portraits, I want to capture and personalize a cultural diversity, to get people out of an anonymity and to give them a face.

"Gery Bouw is fascinated by items like connections in time, between men and nature and mutuality between people. The involvement of the residents and users of a building is an important factor for her commissions.

In that sense she acts like an intermediary between people and their environment. She appeals on the involvement of the observer, not only for the work, but also for the message. Like she let the society reflect on missing real contact. Or better: She provokes people to act differently, to open their hearts and to start relationships.

Her art, both in her commissions and her autonomous works, acts about intimacy, about human warmth and our cosmic connection with nature and with each other".

Quote of Rebecca Nelemans - art historian
